Anti-Spam Bee – states ‘With all its default settings Antispam Bee <2.7.1 is already GDRP compliant. Only the (optional) IP lookup with an external database is not compliant. If you choose to allow only comments from certain countries, an anonymized IP will be sent to an external server (since its anonymized this is GDPR compliant). If you only allow comments in a certain language, the first 10 words of a comment will be sent to Google, in order to detect the used language. Again: there is no personal information involved so this is no GDPR violation. All other checks, Antispam Bee runs against incoming comments, run locally within your own WordPress installation. Commenters personal data will never be sent to a third-party service. Currently, we are finishing the next update, version 2.8.0 which improves IP handling and completely removes the external spam DB, so take a look at your WordPress updates later today and enjoy some peace of mind. Antispam Bee is there for. From version 2.8.0 onwards we have removed the option completely, so if you update to the latest version you are good to go! – 2.8.0 updated on our website.
